How to hide the over-lock line?

Hello, my readers! I know, sometimes, your wondering why the new veil or sateen shirt is destroyed after one washing since you paid attention not to wash it with high temperature... If you look closely,  you can see that the problem is at the sewing line and not on the fabric (except if you bought some cheep chines shirt)...

Most young designers\sewers don't care about the high quality of the garment. If you buy from a new up-comer, you have to be careful, because there is a chance that after one washing your garment will be destroyed.

In this post I want to write about how to make a strong sewing line and  hide the over-lock line.

For this technique you have to leave 1-2 cm for the finishing (depends on your over-lock). After you calculated your pattern, place it on the fabric, leave 2 cm and start cutting. When you start to assemble the garment, place the fabric with the back side and sew on the color of the material at 1.2 cm.

assembling the fabric

After you sewed the material start cutting off the remains with the over-lock. If you have a 4-5 line over-lock, it's not necessary to use simple sewing.

If you think that there's too much remains you have to cut down, you can leave less.

My over-lock line is not that beautiful thus I like to hide it.

After the over-lock sewing, iron the line on the back part of the garment.

Flip the fabric on the back side and sew down with simple line at 7-8 cm depending on the over-lock line. Be careful, you have to sew 2-3 mm side by the over-lock, if you don't, it will look ugly on the color of the material.
This is the final look on the back of the material. I think it's nicer than a simple over-lock line and it's way more resistant.

This is the color of the material. You don't see any difference between a simple sewing or using this technique.

I hope you learned something form this post, and for now on you can watch out, and buy quality cloths.... or sew...

"Excessive consumption of salt, sugar and fat is bad for health"

We see often in the media this "slogan" above, but nobody clarified for us how it really works, but now SM has a specialized nutritionist Kirsch Andrea. She will write for now on about these things every Wednesday...

Why would be "excessive"?

1.Salt (sodium chloride, NaCl)

Sodium is an essential mineral to the body, most common is the “table” salt. The body needs sodium to function properly and this mineral it helps maintain the fluid balance in the body.

People without major health problems should consume max. 6-7 grams of salt per day, but you have to be careful because that doesn't mean we have to use 6 grams of salt/ day. 75% amount of salt is obtained by solely processed foods but if you counting the 6 grams added to your food than a person gets to consume more than 15 grams of salt daily, which is not healthy.

In the kitchen you should use max 2 or 3 g of salt per day so you can avoid the excess of the salt.

Tips: the first step towards healthy eating is to try to eat vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, onions) without salt. This statement is true too, if you eat oleaginous (nuts, seeds, almonds etc) and from here we have already reduced the amount of used salt ;).

2. Sugar

By refining, sugar loses protein contents and reach's to provide a lot of harmful calories  to the organism. When you set a meal plan, you should consult the product labels first. The largest amount of sugar comes from drinks and sweets. Two glasses of juice and a chocolate bar has, in the best case, 355 calories.

Rachel K. Johnson, nutrition professor at the Vermont University in Burlington, author of a study published in the American Heart Association journal Circulation. He advises us to be careful with the solid/liquid calories and the sugar which might be hidden in yogurts or cereals.

It is important to make difference between sugar and natural sugar which appear in foods, fruits and vegetables. Healthy foods are contain water, fiber and various micro nutrients. Look out for the addition of sugar that are added to the food which you buying.

Unfortunately there is no simple answer to the daily consumption of the sugar. Some people can eat sugar without affecting the body, while others should avoid it as much as possible.

American Heart Association (AHA) recommends:

Men: 150 calories per day (37.5 grams or 9 teaspoons).

Women: 100 calories per day (25 grams or 6 teaspoons).

Tips: Try to replace sugar with dark chocolate, fresh fruits and honey. If you want to use sugar substitute, then I recommend you to choose natural sweeteners such as "stevia" (100% natural sweetener).

3. Fat's

Not all fats are bad for health, but primarily are the saturated one, to clarify one thing is not all fats have the same potential toxic.

Saturated and trans fats raise the cholesterol in the blood which increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. Saturated fats are found in meat, cheese, etc. Trans fats are found in foods containing hydrogenated vegetable fats, usually used in pastries. Foods fried in oil is filled with trans fats for example.

Unsaturated fat helps to increase the "good" cholesterol in the blood and gives us essential fat acids what we need. Unsaturated fats are found in foods such as oil vegetables, oily fish (sardines, mackerel, salmon) avocado, nuts and seeds. Unsaturated fats can be: monounsaturated or polyunsaturated. Monounsaturated fats can be found in certain plant, such as olive oil. Polyunsaturated fats is in the sunflower oil.

When we eat alimentary food we have to be careful to not exceed 30% of total calories consumed in a day.

Tips: an important step to reach a healthy life would be to try not to fry foods in oil and try to make it on the grill, or steam in the oven, boiled, etc..
And finally I want to share a recipe, because we all know fries are widespread in alimentation.

Here is how to prepare healthy and tasty potatoes:

Baked Fries

Ingredients:
• potato
• salt
• pepper
• spices (if you like to put something else)
Preparation:
• peel the potatoes, wash with cold water, then slices it but not too thick.
• put in the baking dish with baking paper, place the potatoes in a thin layer, in that way the potatoes do not overlap. Put the potatoes in the preheated oven (at 200 degrees) for 20-25 minutes (until they are golden brown).

Everything should we eat in moderation.

The Light Fastival

Hello, my dear readers! Have you hear about the light festival? Or who are the guys behind it? What’s the idea of the whole festival? Now I can answer all those questions!

A few weeks back, I was with my colleagues to drink a beer and, at the bar table, there was the invitation for the festival. I remembered last year being so romantic and I wanted to go this year to see it again and it turned out really good. The people were sociable and looked happy.

This festival was created by SCOUTS and their point of view is to create a better world. The mission of this organization is to help the young generation and giving them new perspective about life and education.

This light night is an artistic “festival” which lasts 2 hour long with different artistic programs. Most members of this organization are underage children.

Why did they create this?

Life became hard for all of us, a routine which never ends, a job and family which we care about, and of course time management is getting harder and harder. The light is representing the hope and soul which they chose as their symbol.

By this event the young artists can express themselves by giving a new point of view about life, like taking a break from our regular routine.

On this event I met a lot of young artists with hopes and dreams. The festival itself was warm and welcoming. The entrance was full of candles in a romantic way. On the right was a group of organizers and children making lampions.

Going forward there were symbols of the organization on the street and more artists showing their work. I met a young artist who uses spray to make his works. I think it is something really interesting and hard to make… but about his work and perspectives I will write next time :D.

All the happy ppl :D

As the final of the festival there was a group of young people singing and entertaining everybody. I sat there and listened to the sound of the chorus and I was amazed by the view of the town.

 cuz SM was there :D

Innocence

By Google:

in·no·cence
/ˈinəsəns/

Noun:

The state, quality, or fact of being innocent of a crime or offense.
Lack of guile or corruption; purity.

Synonyms:

purity - naivety - simplicity - guiltlessness

In Symbolism:

The lamb is a commonly used symbol of innocence's nature. In Christianity, for example, Jesus is referred to as the "Lamb of God", thus emphasizing his sinless nature. Other symbols of innocence include children, virgins, acacia branches, non-sexual nudity, and the color white.

Loss of innocence:

A "loss of innocence" is a common theme in fiction, pop culture, and realism. It is often seen as an integral part of coming of age. It is usually thought of as an experience or period in a child's life that widens their awareness of evil, pain or suffering in the world around them.

In real life:

In real life, when a child reaches puberty the innocence is shot down and forgotten. Sometimes I wonder "why is that?" ...but the only answer I can get is "society"... If you are different, if you have a soul, then they will laugh and call you naive or childish.

You can chose right or wrong in a meaner of decision, but in the meantime I now you will cry your heat out if you lost, hurt or unhappy.

Numbness....

Numbness…A moment when the life go’s out from my body. Lying there all by myself frozen. A moment where everything moves so fast and I am just lying there …
The bones are too heavy to move so all I can do is let it flow with it. Letting the last breath out, like a pain which goes out from my body left all hopeless.

Maybe love is what we all searching for or maybe more, but this moment right here is a frozen one. You can think about his lips, arms or smile. Lying naked side by side him, looking in his eyes and feeling all that fake touch. Lying on your chest feeling your heart pumping blood in your veins, numbness I can feel…numbness I can get.

A moment of clarity… when I walk out from it realizing that moment is the past…
